Hey, I’m Adela!

I’m a clinical mental health counselor and work collaboratively with teenagers and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship difficulties, and identity confusion. Many of my clients have experienced trauma that is keeping them from living the life they want. I am committed to providing a safe, nurturing and empowering environment for clients to gain increased self-awareness, explore the corners of their mind, identify and work through fears, improve their relationships, and embody their ideal self and values.

Using evidence-based therapies, including EMDR, I aim to customize each session to fit your needs and therapy goals to provide you with the best possible care. Every client is unique, and my role is establish a climate of authenticity and curiosity necessary for healing.  Together, we will work on processing past trauma, increasing your distress tolerance, challenging unhelpful beliefs, quieting your inner-critic, and finding new ways to cope with and relate to emotions. We will spend time cultivating your sense of self, tapping into self-compassion practices, mindfulness exercises, writing practices, value exploration and communication skills building.

I care deeply about taking a queer, trans, body, and sex positive-affirming approach to therapy. Paying special attention to systemic and multicultural perspectives, I am committed to honoring and validating individuals with various ethnic, racial, religious, spiritual, gender, and sexual identities. I believe that true healing begins with an honest and genuine connection between therapist and client. Beginning with a new therapist can feel intimidating. I strive to create a comfortable, and warm environment for you and your needs. Please reach out for a free 20 minute consultation. I look forward to speaking with you! When I am not counseling, I can be found writing, reading, creating art, rock climbing, hiking, or spending time with my cat, Coca.
